Skipper of the “Mustafà”
Francesco was born in 1955 in Naples. His home overlooked the gulf and the constant comings and goings of all the boats and ships, large and small, so characteristic of that body of water. He has always followed his natural passion for the sea.
He has a “Capitano di Lungo Corso” degree from the Nautical Institute, an unlimited nautical license, a number of professional qualifications and is an experienced scuba diver. Francesco took his initial interest for boating from his father, then joined local nautical clubs. He got experience on larger sailing craft and spent the 1970s and 1980s, both for pleasure and work in the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, and the waters of the Caribbean and South America, including a number of transatlantic crossings. He has alternated pleasure sailing with more traditional work as a merchant seaman aboard various types of cargo vessels on all the oceans of the world and along the most diverse routes. Since 1993 he has worked in the ports of Naples and Salerno in the service of a large maritime agency that handles hundreds of ships. He became a licensed maritime agent in 1995.
In 2002 he gave in to an old dream and moved his activity to the Aeolian Islands, specifically to Salina, where he has alternated between running a restaurant, sailing, and being the agent on the island for a large charter company. He is now the owner of the catamaran, Mustafà, to which he has dedicated himself.
